Nearly 1 in 5 children admitted to a UK children’s hospital are at risk of malnutrition.
According to the RCN, nurses have a key role in the nutritional screening of children.
STAMP (Screening Tool for the Assessment of Malnutrition in Paediatrics) is a validated nutrition screening tool for use in hospitalised children aged 2-16 years.
STAMP is a simple 5-step tool that was developed by a team from Royal Manchester Children’s Hospitals and the University of Ulster, the lead investigator being Helen McCarthy, Lecturer and Honorary Paediatric Dietitian.
The work was supported by an unrestricted educational grant from Abbott Nutrition. Everything you need to complete a STAMP screening is available to download from this website, free of charge.
