Since its inception
in 1988, the South African Journal of Clinical Nutrition has served
nutrition professionals in this country within the framework of
SASPEN’S constitution. It has established itself in publishing
manuscripts relating to the wider field of nutrition and has grown
to be widely respected as SASPEN’S official publication.
It is therefore a great
pleasure to congratulate ADSAon its decision to adopt the Journal
as its official publication, and we welcome the Association and
its members as equal partners in our joint efforts to serve the
profession in the best way possible. I feel confident that upon
finalisation of their deliberations on this issue the Nutrition
Society of South Africa will also decide to adopt the Journal as
the Society’s official publication.
The constructive negotiations
that were held between the interested partners have led to the formulation
of a new editorial policy, which will be published in the forthcoming
issue of the Journal. A new Editorial Board will also be appointed
within the next 6 months in order better to reflect the joint ownership
of the Journal.
May I take this
opportunity to thank all professionals who have expressed their
commitment to and support of the Journal by publishing in it, the
members of the present and past Editorial Boards for their contribution
to maintaining the high standards of the Journal, and the private
sector for selflessly and unconditionally sponsoring its publication.
May I also invite all members of ADSAand SASPEN as well as all practitioners
in the field of nutrition to contribute to the continued success
of our Journal by publishing their research findings, using the
correspondence columns and sharing their news with peers and colleagues
in the Journal’s news columns.
